Room Data Sheets SmartTool

their explanation

Room data sheets (or RDS) are used to capture in a systematic manner the details and requirements for each space on the project. They are usually prepared by the client during the briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process, but may also be updated during the design process to reflect evolving requirements, or to provide an improved and more precise overview for those who are responsible for delivering the project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create rooms (or space), data sheets using the Revit project. It is a speedy and precise tool that can be used to create sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool is able to generate 3D, plans, elevations and view schedules for spaces or rooms that are parametrically named and numbers on new sheets.

The default setting is to use the Room Numbering template and the Sheet Format created by the Revit project however, a different sheet name and style may be selected from the Tool Options tab. Click the button ‘Load configuration …’ on the toolbar to replace the current settings with previously saved configurations. This reduces the amount needed for manual rework for different sizes and types of rooms.

The tab ‘Naming’ lets the user to choose if the selected room/space is included in the sheet’s Name text box which appears on the left side of the screen. The ‘View Title option specifies the text that appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment is the number of increments that exist between each view on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ feature allows you to control the spacing between each view. The “Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ option will prevent titles being included in the calculation of the number of views on the sheet.
